Biography
Goseki Kojima // 小島剛夕
Born in 1928, November 3rd. Yokkaichi-shi Mie prefecture.
He learned drawing by himself by drawing advertising posters for movie theater.
Goseki's father was an amateur artist, his grandfather from 3 generations before was a sculptor.After he drew pictures for kamishibai (a Japanese way of telling a story with pictures)he started drawing for manga. He became popular. Sanpei Shirato and Goseki were two top manga artist at that time.
When it comes to historical drama manga, no one could exceed his drawing. Weight of the sword, balance of the body, stream of the wind, battle scene, Goseki's drawing impressed many people. He didn't draw pictures from start to end. He comes up with the best image, he start drawing from there, then drew rest of the pictures. We can feel the warmth from Goseki's picture.
